PM Celebrates 1 Crore Ayushman Cards In Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his delight as the issuance of one crore Ayushman cards marked a significant achievement during the ongoing Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra (VBSY) across the country. Under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (#PMJAY), these cards offer free treatment of up to Rs 5 lakh per annum per family at empanelled hospitals nationwide.
Health and Family Welfare Minister Mansukh Mandaviya disclosed that India has achieved a commendable landmark, with 1,02,23,619 Ayushman cards created during the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra. This achievement not only signifies the strength of the country’s health infrastructure but also propels healthcare excellence in India.
Under the ongoing Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra, the cumulative footfall has reached 1,31,66,365 in 79,487 Health camps conducted at 3,462 Gram Panchayats and Urban Local Bodies. This extensive reach demonstrates the commitment to bringing healthcare services closer to the people.
Ayushman cards are being distributed under the Health Ministry’s flagship scheme, Ayushman Bharat — Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY), through VBSY vans equipped with the Ayushman app. Till date, more than 23,83,473 physical cards have been distributed, and a notable 6,34,168 Ayushman cards were created during the health camps on December 21.
The health camps are not limited to Ayushman card distribution. Screening for tuberculosis is a crucial aspect, with more than 49,17,356 people screened, and over 3,41,499 referred to higher Public Health Facilities. Under the Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (PMTBMA), consent has been obtained from over 1,17,734 patients, and more than 39,819 new Nikshay Mitras were registered.
Under the Nikshay Poshan Yojana (NPY), monetary assistance is provided to TB patients through Direct Benefit Transfer. The screening for Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) in tribal areas has screened over 5,08,701 people, with 21,793 testing positive and referred to higher public health facilities.
In the realm of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs), around 10,297,809 people have been screened for Hypertension and Diabetes. Over 4,82,667 were suspected to be positive for Hypertension, and more than 3,45,898 were suspected to have Diabetes, leading to the referral of over 7,59,451 people to higher public health facilities.
Launched by the Prime Minister on November 15 from Khunti, Jharkhand, the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra aims to achieve the saturation of benefits from central government schemes across the nation. Ayushman eligibility information is accessible on 14555.
