PM Modi Chairs 11th NITI Aayog Meeting, Focuses on Viksit Bharat 2047
Honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi ha chaired the 11th Governing Council Meeting of NITI Aayog on 11th of June, 2026 at the Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Centre in the National Capital. This meeting was themed around “nclusive Human Development for Viksit Bharat@2047” and brought together the Chief Ministers, Lieutenant Governors and Administrators from 28 States and 5 Union Territories. Significantly it marks the first occasion when the Chief Ministers of all the 28 States have participated in the Governing Council meeting.
Addressing the gathering, Prime Minister Modi had emphasized that the vision of Viksit Bharat should not remain limited to the national level but become the collective mission for every State, district, block and village.
He highlighted that the while several major economies continue to face uncertainty and economic challenges, India remains as one of the fastest-growing economies.
To sustain this momentum, he called for the stronger cooperation between the Centre and States and he stressed that the cooperative federalism remains the foundation of India’s development journey.
The Prime Minister has also urged the States to adopt the global best practices and particularly in the renewable energy and governance reforms.
One of the key themes of the 11th meeting was the India’s demographic advantage. Prime Minister Modi has also noted that the nearly 70 crore Indians are below the age of 25 and making youth the country’s greatest asset.

The Prime Minister has stressed that the India’s demographic dividend can become the development dividend only when young people are equipped with the skills required for the emerging industries and technologies.
Referring to the India’s recently concluded Free Trade Agreements (FTAs), the Prime Minister has also urged the States to help youth and MSMEs and take advantage of the expanding global market opportunities.

Prime Minister Modi has highlighted the artificial intelligence (AI) as a major opportunity rather than a challenge. He called upon the States to prepare citizens for the future economy by investing in to AI-related skills and digital literacy.

Defense manufacturing was identified as the sector where India is building the distinct global identity. States were encouraged to formulate the supportive policies to attract the investments and create employment opportunities in this domain.
The Prime Minister has urged the States to strengthen the One District One Product (ODOP) initiative and build the export-oriented strategies around local products.
He has also reiterated the government’s commitment to the women-led development.
Calling for the greater economic participation of women, he urged the States to help increase the number of Lakhpati Didis from 3 crore to 6 crore along with ensuring a safe and secure environment for women.
