PM Modi Inaugurates ₹12,000 Crore Development Projects in Gaya, Bihar

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for multiple development projects worth ₹12,000 crore in Gaya, Bihar, on 22 August 2025. Speaking from the spiritual land of Vishnupad Temple and Bodh Gaya, the Prime Minister emphasized Bihar’s ancient heritage, its role in India’s defence, and its growing importance in national development.

Major Projects Inaugurated

1. Road & Bridge Projects

  • Aunta–Simaria Bridge (₹1,870 crore)
  • 8.15 km project including a 1.86 km six-lane bridge on the Ganga.
  • Reduces heavy vehicle detours of 100+ km, improving connectivity between North and South Bihar.
  • Bakhtiyarpur–Mokama Four-Lane Section (₹1,900 crore)
  • Enhances passenger and freight movement.
  • Bikramganj–Dumraon NH-120 upgrade
  • Boosts rural connectivity and economic opportunities.

2. Energy Infrastructure

  • Buxar Thermal Power Plant (₹6,880 crore)
  • Adds 660 MW capacity.
  • Enhances energy security and industrial growth.
  • Upcoming projects at Nabinagar (Aurangabad) and Pirpainti (Bhagalpur) to further expand Bihar’s power supply.

3. Healthcare

  • Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital & Research Centre, Muzaffarpur
  • Equipped with OPD, IPD wards, modern labs, OTs, ICU, HDU, and blood bank.
  • Provides affordable cancer care to patients in Bihar and neighbouring states.

4. Urban Development & Clean Ganga Projects

  • Munger STP & Sewerage Network (₹520 crore) under Namami Gange.
  • Urban infrastructure projects (₹1,260 crore) in Aurangabad, Bodhgaya, Jehanabad, Jamui, Lakhisarai.
  • AMRUT 2.0 Water Supply Projects for Aurangabad, Bodhgaya, Jehanabad.

5. Railways

  • Amrit Bharat Express: Gaya–Delhi route with modern amenities.
  • Buddhist Circuit Train: Connecting Vaishali to Koderma, boosting religious tourism.
  • Gaya Station modernization under Amrit Bharat Station Scheme with airport-like facilities.

6. Housing & Welfare

Grih Pravesh Ceremony for,

  • 12,000 rural beneficiaries (PMAY-Gramin).
  • 4,260 urban beneficiaries (PMAY-Urban).
  • Houses include electricity, water, toilets, and gas, symbolizing dignity and security.
