About Green Hydrogen and the National Green Hydrogen Mission

Green hydrogen is produced by electrolyzing water using electricity from renewable sources like solar, wind, and hydro power. This hydrogen is used in fuel cells for powering vehicles, which produce minimal pollution compared to fossil fuels. The National Green Hydrogen Mission, launched on January 4, 2023, aims to develop a 5 Million Metric Ton per year green hydrogen production capacity by 2030, with a total outlay of Rs 19,744 crores. The mission will run from 2023-24 to 2029-30.
