PM Modi Inaugurates India's First Namo Bharat RRTS Launched On This Corridor
Honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the India’s first Namo Bharat Rapid Rail Transit System (RRTS) and dedicated the Delhi-Meerut Namo Bharat Corridor to the citizens on 22 February 2026 in Meerut. The project marks the first time in India about that a rapid rail and metro service operate from the same station and on the same track. The Prime Minister described the as a new era of world class infrastructure for Uttar Pradesh and the country.
The Delhi-Meerut Namo Bharat Corridor is India’s first operational Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS). Alongside this, the Meerut Metro was also inaugurated from the same platform.

The project gives commuters flexibility to the metro for city travel and Namo Bharat trains for high-speed regional travel.
The integrated corridor will strengthens the “Twin Cities” concept by connecting Meerut and Delhi seamlessly.

are creating massive employment and industrial growth in Uttar Pradesh.
He noted that metro services expanded from just 5 cities before 2014 to more than 25 cities today, making India the third-largest metro network in the world.
