PM Modi Showcases India's Cultural Diplomacy with Tribal Art and Indigenous Gifts for World Leaders
Honorable Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi strengthened the cultural diplomacy, as on his recent visit to multiple nations he gifted specially curated items which are rooted in tribal traditions and indigenous craftsmanship. World leaders has received symbolic gifts representing the India’s diverse cultural identity from Gond tribal art and Assam’s Muga Silk to the Manipur’s heritage black rice.
Diplomatic gifting has long been an important part of the international relations but India’s latest approach places the special focus on indigenous traditions and tribal craftsmanship.
During his recent foreign engagements, Prime Minister Narendra Modi presented gifts which reflected the India’s tribal art, traditional weaving and heritage food culture.
The move is can be seen as part of the India’s broader cultural diplomacy strategy, in where traditional knowledge, regional identity and soft power are projected worldwide through meaningful symbolic gestures.
One of the most significant gifts was a traditional Gond painting from the Madhya Pradesh, presented to Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden.
The Gond art tradition originates from the Gond tribal community, which is one of the India’s largest indigenous communities.
