On a vibrant Sunday in Varanasi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the second edition of Kashi Tamil Sangamam, a cultural extravagance aimed at fostering the cultural ties between Varanasi and Tamil Nadu. During the event, PM Modi also flagged off the Kashi Tamil Sangamam Express, symbolizing the unity of the diverse cultures within India.
In his address, PM Modi emphasized the significance of Kashi Tamil Sangamam in reinforcing the sentiment of ‘Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat’ – the idea of a united and diverse India. He highlighted the unique bond between the people of Tamil Nadu and Varanasi, stating that travelling from Tamil Nadu to Varanasi is like moving from one home of Lord Mahadev to another.
The inauguration ceremony, held at Namo Ghat, witnessed the presence of key dignitaries, including Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and other prominent leaders. Prior to the Kashi Tamil Sangamam event, PM Modi inaugurated the Surat Diamond Bourse and a new terminal building at Surat Airport in Gujarat. These inaugurations highlight the government’s commitment to infrastructure development and economic growth across different regions of the country.
The second edition of Kashi Tamil Sangamam, scheduled from December 17 to 30, 2023, is part of the ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat Yuva Sangam’ program. With a focus on people-to-people connect, the event aims to revive the historical ties between Kashi and Tamil Nadu, both renowned centers of learning and culture in ancient India. The overarching objective is to strengthen the understanding of shared heritage and foster closer ties between the people of these two regions.
The Kashi Tamil Sangamam 2023 is expected to witness the participation of 1,400 dignitaries from Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, further promoting cultural exchange and collaboration. This cultural extravaganza is a testament to the government’s commitment to preserving and promoting the diverse cultural heritage of India.
