President Murmu’s Six-Day Visit to Fiji, New Zealand, and Timor-Leste

President Droupadi Murmu embarked on a six-day visit to Fiji, New Zealand, and Timor-Leste, marking significant diplomatic engagements. This visit is notable for being the first by an Indian Head of State to Fiji and Timor-Leste.

Visit to Fiji (August 5-7)

Invitation: President Wiliame Maivalili Katonivere.

Activities: Bilateral meetings with President Katonivere and Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka.

Engagement: Address the Fijian Parliament and interact with members of Indian origin.

Visit to New Zealand (August 8-9)

Invitation: Governor-General Cindy Kiro.

Significance: First presidential visit from India to New Zealand in eight years.

Activities: Bilateral meetings with Governor-General Kiro, Prime Minister Christopher Luxon, and Deputy Prime Minister Winston Peters.

Event: Governor-General Kiro will host a banquet in honor of President Murmu.

Visit to Timor-Leste (August 10)

Activities: Bilateral meeting with President Horta and interactions with the Indian community.
