Nashik, Maharashtra, recently hosted the prestigious 27th National Youth Festival from January 12 to 16, 2024. This significant event was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The festival, coinciding with the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, celebrated youthful talent and skills across the nation.
The festival witnessed the presence of notable dignitaries including Union Ministers Anurag Singh Thakur, Bharati Pawar, Nisith Pramanik, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, and Deputy Chief Ministers Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar. Prime Minister Modi, in his visit to Nashik, participated in a roadshow, visited Kala Ram mandir, Ramkund, and performed Maha-aarti of the Godavari river. He also listened to an AI-translated Hindi version of the Marathi narrative of the ‘Yudh Kanda’ from the Ramayana.
This visit holds special significance as it occurred just ten days before the grand ‘Pran-Pratishtha’ ceremony of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, a place of great importance in the life of Lord Ram.
During his day-long visit, the Prime Minister inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of multiple development projects in Maharashtra worth over 30,500 crore rupees. This included the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Sewari – Nhava Sheva Atal Setu in Mumbai, the longest sea bridge in the country, and several other projects aimed at improving urban transport infrastructure and connectivity.
The Department of Youth Affairs organized extensive activities nationwide to mark National Youth Day. More than 88,000 volunteers, registered through the MY Bharat digital platform, participated in various events including road safety awareness, visits to Anganwadi centers for storytelling sessions, and information dissemination about government schemes. These events were conducted in over 763 districts, each featuring a district-level mega program with cultural showcases and tributes to Swami Vivekananda.
The 27th National Youth Festival aimed to provide a platform for young people to showcase their skills and talents. It celebrated the youth power of India and the commitment to make India a developed nation by 2047, the 100th year of Indian independence. The festival, along with the development projects initiated, signifies a step towards empowering the youth and enhancing the nation’s infrastructure.
