QCI gives nod to National Test House Ghaziabad as drones certification body NTH, Ghaziabad has been "provisionally approved by the Quality Council of India (QCI) as a certification body for type certification of drones", an official statement said on Tuesday
The Quality Council of India (QCI) has provisionally approved National Test House (NTH), Ghaziabad, as a certification body for type certification of drones under the Drone Rules 2021. NTH will assess agricultural drones, including Vimaana Aerospace Technologies’ Krishiraj 1.0, and provide low-cost certification services to support the growing drone sector in India.
As part of the Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) certification scheme, NTH will conduct an onsite assessment of Krishiraj 1.0 in September 2024 to evaluate its compliance with national and international standards. Type certification is mandatory for drones operating in India.
NTH offers its certification services at Rs 1.5 lakh, the lowest in the industry. This reflects the institution’s commitment to supporting innovation in India’s drone sector, ensuring high safety, quality, and performance standards.
Established in 1912, NTH, under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, has a long history of providing testing, calibration, and quality evaluation services across multiple industries, contributing to India’s industrial growth.
