Reliance Launches Vantara, a National Initiative for Animal Welfare

Reliance Industries and Reliance Foundation have launched a bold initiative, Vantara (Star of the Forest), dedicated to the rescue, treatment, care, and rehabilitation of animals in need. This ambitious program, spearheaded by Anant Ambani, aims to create a national and international impact on animal welfare.

A Haven for Animals in Distress

Vantara’s core lies in a sprawling 3,000-acre sanctuary within the Green Belt of Reliance’s Jamnagar Refinery Complex in Gujarat. This space has been meticulously transformed into a jungle-like environment, providing rescued animals with a natural and enriching habitat to heal and thrive.

Setting New Standards in Animal Care

Vantara aspires to become a leader in animal conservation and care practices. The initiative focuses on:

  • State-of-the-art healthcare: Providing advanced medical facilities and treatments for animals.
  • Dedicated hospitals: Offering specialized care to address the specific needs of various species.
  • Research and academic centers: Fostering collaboration and innovation in animal welfare.

Global Collaboration for a Greater Cause

Vantara transcends geographical boundaries by collaborating with renowned international organizations, including:

  • International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN)
  • World Wildlife Fund for Nature (WWF)
  • Venezuelan National Foundation of Zoos
  • Smithsonian Institution
  • World Association of Zoos and Aquariums

A Track Record of Success

Vantara has already made significant strides in its mission:

  • Rescued over 200 elephants and numerous other animals, reptiles, and birds from precarious situations.
  • Undertaken crucial rehabilitation projects for endangered species like rhinos, leopards, and crocodiles.
  • Participated in international rescue missions in countries like Mexico and Venezuela.

Collaboration for National Impact

Vantara prioritizes collaboration with national institutions like:

  • National Zoological Park, Delhi
  • Assam State Zoo
  • Nagaland Zoological Park
  • Sardar Patel Zoological Park, Ahmedabad

Through these partnerships, Vantara aims to establish a nationwide network for animal welfare, ensuring a brighter future for India’s diverse wildlife.
