RN Ravi Becomes 22nd Governor of West Bengal After Swearing In Ceremony in Kolkata

RN Ravi has been sworn in as the 22nd Governor of West Bengal. The swearing-in ceremony took place on March 12 2026 at the Lok Bhavan in Kolkata. He was the Former of Indian Police Services. The oath of office was administered by Calcutta High Court Chief Justice Sujoy Paul. The ceremony was attended by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. RN Ravi take the charge the position following the resignation of the previous governor C. V. Ananda Bose.

Swearing In Ceremony in Kolkata

The RN Ravi governor swearing-in ceremony was held at Lok Bhavan.

Which is the official residence of the Governor in Kolkata. The event was attended by several key political figures and senior government officials.

Among those present were Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Assembly Speaker Biman Banerjee, Kolkata Mayor Firhad Hakim and Left Front chairman Biman Bose.

Senior state bureaucrats including Chief Secretary Nandini Chakravorty and top police officials also participated in the ceremony.

Appointment After Resignation of C. V. Ananda Bose

The appointment of RN Ravi as the Governor of West Bengal came after the resignation of C. V. Ananda Bose.

Bose who stepped down from the position on March 5 2026.

After the resignation the central government appointed RN Ravi to take charge of the constitutional office.

His swearing-in officially marks the beginning of his tenure as the 22nd Governor of West Bengal.

RN Ravi’s Previous Roles as Governor

Before becoming the Governor of West Bengal the RN Ravi had served in several important constitutional positions.

He previously held the role of governor in Nagaland, Meghalaya and Tamil Nadu.

His administrative experience also includes a long career in the Indian Police Service (IPS).

Over the years, he has worked in various security and governance roles, contributing to policy and administrative frameworks in different parts of India.
