Sadhguur, a well-known spiritual leader and the founder of the Isha Foundation, has received the ‘Global Indian of the Year’ award from the Canada India Foundation (CIF). This award was given to him for his strong efforts in spreading awareness about human consciousness and environmental protection.
The award was officially given on 22 May in a special event held in Toronto, Canada. Many important Indo-Canadian leaders, business people and community members attended the event. CIF Chair Ritesh Malik and National Convenor Sunita Vyas presented the award to Sadhguru.
Along with the award, Sadhguru also received a cash prize of CAD 50,000. He dedicated this amount to the ‘Cauvery Calling’ project, which aims to bring life back to the Cauvery River by planting more trees and supporting farmers in the river basin.
The award was first announced in October 2024. During the event, CIF Chair Ritesh Malik praised Sadhguru’s important work on soil health, climate change and mental well-being. He said that Sadhguru is helping the world become more aware and compassionate.
After the event, CIF shared their happiness on social media platform X. Their post read, ”Extremely grateful, on behalf of the Indo-Canadian community, to have Sadhguru accept the Canada India Foundation’s Global Indian of the Year award last evening. Sadhguru’s message resonates deeply: a conscious and compassionate humanity is the way forward.”
