India lost one of its greatest artists with the passing away of Ram Vanji Sutar the legendary sculptor behind the Statue of Unity, the world’s tallest statue. He passed away on December 17, 2025, at his residence in Noida, at the age of 100 after a long battle with age-related ailments. His death marks the end of an era in Indian art and sculpture.
