What is Intangible Cultural Heritage?

How India’s Traditions Enter the UNESCO List

UNESCO’s Intergovernmental Committee evaluates cultural elements from different countries. They check how unique, meaningful, and community-based the tradition is. India’s First Entry in 2008

India was added to the list for the first time in 2008. That year, three traditions—Kutiyattam, Vedic Chanting and Ramlila—were included. Since then, more elements have been added, showing India’s growing cultural importance.
