Dharedu village in Kaithal district of Haryana is known as Mini Italy. Many people from this village have moved to Italy for work since the year 2000. Today, almost every house has someone living in Italy. Because of this and the village’s clean and modern look, it is called Mini Italy.
Around the year 2000, many young people from Dharedu went to Italy to find work. Slowly, more and more people from the village also went there. Today, almost every house in Dharedu has at least one family member living in Italy. Because of this strong connection with Italy, people starting calling Dharedu ”Mini Italy.”
Dharedu is not only known for its link to Italy, but also for its cleanliness. The village is neat and well-maintained. The streets are clean, and the environment is fresh. This makes it a good example for other villages nearby.
Since many people from Dharedu now live in Italy, their lifestyle has changed. When they come back to visit the village, they bring back Italian ways of speaking, eating and dressing. This is why one can see a little bit of Italian culture in Dharedu today.
