Who Is Sai Jadhav India’s First Woman Officer from IMA
A historic moment for India’s armed forces 23 year old Sai Jadhav has become the first woman officer to pass out from the Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun. Her commissioning ends a 93 year long tradition during which only men were trained and commissioned at the IMA, marking a significant step in the Indian Army’s journey towards gender inclusion.
The Indian Military Academy was established in 1932 and has since commissioned over 67,000 officers, all of whom were men until now. Sai Jadhav’s successful completion of training makes her the first woman ever to graduate from the IMA, rewriting a long-standing chapter in India’s military history.
