The low awareness of Hypertension among people creates the space for the condition to get more serious. When Hypertension is regularly measured and kept under check, the risk of other chronic illnesses also reduces significantly. World Hypertension Day is an annual event that is held on May 17th to raise awareness about hypertension, also known as high blood pressure. The day was first established in 2005 by the World Hypertension League (WHL), an international organization that is dedicated to the prevention and control of hypertension.
