India Internet Governance Forum (IIGF) 2025 to Focus on Inclusive and Sustainable Digital Future
The India Internet Governance Forum (IIGF) 2025, the fifth edition of India’s premier multi-stakeholder forum on internet policy, will be held from 27–28 November 2025 in New Delhi. Organised under the theme “Advancing Internet Governance for an Inclusive and Sustainable Viksit Bharat”, IIGF 2025 brings together diverse stakeholders to discuss and design the future direction of India’s digital ecosystem. This two-day event will host policy-makers, tech industry leaders, academic researchers, civil society, and global digital bodies, making it a critical event for anyone interested in the digital governance of India.
The forum will feature four major panel discussions and twelve workshops, covering technical, regulatory, and community-driven aspects of internet governance.
The event will be inaugurated by Shri Jitin Prasada, Union Minister of State for Electronics & IT, alongside Shri Sushil Pal, Joint Secretary, MeitY, and Dr. Devesh Tyagi, CEO of the National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI).
IIGF 2025 is structured around three high-impact sub-themes that reflect India’s digital priorities in line with Viksit Bharat @2047.
This track will focus on bridging the digital divide, promoting accessibility and affordability of internet services, and ensuring that digital development includes rural, underserved, and marginalised communities.
Discussions here will emphasize the role of robust digital infrastructure — such as cloud systems, data centres, and broadband connectivity — in supporting India’s economic growth, sustainability, and disaster resilience.
With growing relevance of Artificial Intelligence, this theme will explore the ethical, safe, and people-centric deployment of AI, ensuring it serves development goals, environmental sustainability, and digital rights protection.
Set up in 2021, IIGF is India’s national chapter of the UN Internet Governance Forum (UN IGF). It is designed as a multi-stakeholder platform, ensuring equal representation from government, civil society, industry, academia, and technical communities.
The forum is managed by a 14-member organizing committee, reflecting a balance of interests and expertise in shaping India’s digital policy agenda.
Speakers and representatives from UN IGF, Meta, Google Cloud, CCAOI, and top Indian universities will contribute to the discourse — covering everything from digital inclusion to cybersecurity, AI regulation, and governance frameworks.
