BRO Celebrates its Foundation on May 7th
The Border Roads Organisation (BRO), a vital arm of India’s defence and strategic infrastructure framework, celebrated its 64th Foundation Day on May 7, 2025. Operating under the Ministry of Defence, BRO has been instrumental in enhancing road connectivity in India’s most remote and challenging border regions, playing a key role in both defence preparedness and regional development.
On May 7, 2025, the BRO completed 64 years of service since its formation in 1960. The organisation continues to make headlines for record-setting infrastructure feats, such as the world’s highest motorable road at Umling La, Ladakh, and the construction of strategic tunnels, bridges, and airfields. With increasing border challenges and geopolitical concerns, BRO’s role has never been more crucial.
