Armed forces test integrated surveillance and firepower capabilities

‘Buland Bharat’ is an integrated training exercise taking place at the longest high-altitude Artillery Ranges in the eastern theatre which were recently brought into operation. This exercise saw the Artillery and Infantry effectively using their surveillance and firepower abilities, working closely with Special Forces, Aviation, and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), who were deployed in the West Kameng and Tawang districts of Arunachal Pradesh.

Buland Bharat Exercise: About

  • Conducted by the Indian Army, this exercise was a combination of both surveillance and firepower training.
  • It took place at the newly operational High Altitude Artillery Ranges in the Eastern Theatre, which is the longest of its kind.
  • The exercise featured a coordinated effort between infantry and artillery units, as well as Special Forces, Aviation, and Central Armed Police Forces. The goal was to bring down integrated firepower by utilising an orchestrated and synchronised firing approach aimed at specific targets.
  • Throughout the month-long training, troops and equipment were tested in simulated war conditions in high-altitude areas and extreme weather conditions. Efficient communication was also tested over different media at long distances.
  • The exercise showcased the synergized surveillance and firepower capabilities of the infantry and artillery units, as well as their abilities to direct fire from the air.
