As of the 2011 census, Uttar Pradesh had a population of approximately 199.8 million, accounting for about 16.5% of India’s total population. Presently, this figure has surpassed 240 million. The state comprises a total of 75 districts, organized into 18 divisions. These divisions are further grouped into four regions: Western Uttar Pradesh, Purvanchal (Eastern Uttar Pradesh), Central Uttar Pradesh, and Bundelkhand. Additionally, the state includes 822 community development blocks and 17 municipal corporations.

Largest and Smallest Districts of Uttar Pradesh

The largest district in Uttar Pradesh by area is Lakhimpur Kheri, which spans 7,680 square kilometers. In contrast, the smallest district is Hapur, covering just 660 square kilometers. Geographically, Ballia is the easternmost district, Saharanpur is the northernmost, Sonbhadra is the southernmost, and Shamli is the westernmost district in the state.
