DRDO Launches Advanced Quantum Technology Research Centre in Delhi
On May 27, 2025, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) inaugurated the Quantum Technology Research Centre (QTRC) at Metcalfe House, Delhi, aiming to accelerate India’s indigenous research in quantum technologies for strategic and defence applications. Inaugurated by Dr. Samir V Kamat, Chairman of DRDO, the centre is equipped with cutting-edge infrastructure for developing quantum communication, sensing, and timekeeping technologies, placing India at the forefront of quantum innovation.
The inauguration of the Quantum Technology Research Centre (QTRC) by DRDO marks a significant step in advancing India’s quantum ecosystem, especially for national defence and security. As global competition intensifies in quantum computing and cryptography, India aims to build sovereign capabilities to remain technologically secure and independent.
