Govt of India launched ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh Compaign’

Air Force Stations in Delhi Commemorate 75 Years of Independence

To commemorate 75 years of Independence, various Air Force Stations in and around Delhi celebrated the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav (AKAM) from 09 to 15 August 2023. The events were organized under the aegis of the ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh Compaign’, launched by the Government of India as a continuation for celebration of AKAM.

One of the key activities of the campaign was the development of an Amrit Vatika (Amrit Garden) in each station by planting 75 saplings of indigenous species. This was done to replenish mother earth as ‘Vasudha Vandhan’ (reforestation). The saplings were planted by the personnel of the stations, school children, residents of the localities, and panchayat members.

In addition to the Amrit Vatika, other activities organized at the stations included:

  • Cleanliness drives
  • Blood donation camps
  • Tree plantation drives
  • Cultural programs
  • Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (Clean India Mission) activities
  • Yoga demonstrations

The events were a grand success and were attended by a large number of people. They were appreciated by all for promoting the message of patriotism and national integration.

The following are some of the specific events that took place at each station:

  • Air Force Station Arjangarh: The Amrit Vatika was developed at Baba Mangal Das Park, Ayanagar. Mr Ved Pal (Counsellor & Nagar Adhyaksha) assisted the Station authorities in the successful conduct of the event.
  • Air Force Station Hindan: An Amrit Vatika was developed around Amrit Sarovar (Amrit Lake) in Bowapur village. Mr Prabhat Kumar, Joint Director, Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan assisted the Station authorities in making the event a success.
  • Air Force Station Palam: The event was conducted at the Indo Korean Friendship Park near the Station. The campaign was organized in collaboration with Mr Sunil Kataria, Delhi Cantonment Board. Freedom Fighters of our nation were honoured as a part of ‘Veeron ka Vandan’ (Salute to the Martyrs) on 15 August 2023. Retired personnel from the three services, Central and State Police participated in the felicitation program.

The whole-hearted participation by the personnel of the respective Stations, school children, residents of localities, and panchayat made the events a grand success.

The Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav is a fitting tribute to the sacrifices made by our freedom fighters. It is also a reminder of the responsibility that we all have to build a strong and prosperous India. The events organized by the Air Force Stations in Delhi are a step in this direction.
