Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar Awarded World Leader for Peace and Security 2025

Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, the globally revered spiritual leader and founder of the Art of Living Foundation, has been conferred the World Leader for Peace and Security Award 2025 by the Boston Global Forum (BGF) and the AI World Society (AIWS). The honour places him among a distinguished league of international leaders including French President Emmanuel Macron, Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.

This award recognises Gurudev’s transformative contributions to global peace, humanitarian leadership, and his groundbreaking integration of spirituality into governance, diplomacy, and social reform.

Why Gurudev Received the Award

Presenting the award on November 3, 2025, Nguyen Anh Tuan, Co-founder and CEO of BGF, praised Gurudev for bridging Eastern wisdom with Western innovation, calling him a “spiritual luminary” whose work embodies moral courage and humanity in the AI era.

The BGF specifically acknowledged his,

  • Direct conflict mediation in regions like Colombia, Iraq, Sri Lanka, Venezuela, and Kashmir
  • Promotion of peace education, dialogue, and inner transformation
  • Sustainable peace-building across 180 countries, based not on rhetoric but real-world action
  • Gurudev’s peace efforts have transcended geographical and political boundaries, influencing both grassroots and global platforms.

The Art of Living Foundation

Founded in 1981, Gurudev’s Art of Living Foundation has become a leading global NGO focused on stress relief, mental health, and humanitarian work. Its initiatives span,

  • Rehabilitating over 800,000 prisoners worldwide
  • Reviving 70+ rivers across India through volunteer-driven eco-restoration
  • Providing free education to over 100,000 underprivileged children
  • Promoting the Sudarshan Kriya (SKY Breath Meditation) — a science-backed breathing technique proven to reduce stress, anxiety, and trauma

Through such efforts, the foundation has made peace a lived experience, not merely a theoretical ideal.
