IBM, AICTE Join Hands to Launch AI Lab in India

In a major step toward transforming technical education in India, the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has announced a strategic partnership with IBM to establish a state-of-the-art Artificial Intelligence (AI) lab at its headquarters. This initiative aims to upskill faculty and students in AI, data science, and other next-gen technologies, reinforcing India’s drive toward building a future-ready digital workforce.

What the IBM–AICTE AI Lab Will Offer

The AI lab is being designed as a central hub for AI education and practical learning across India’s technical institutions. Key components include,

Practical, Industry-Focused Learning

  • Hands-on training in AI, machine learning, and data science
  • Workshops, hackathons, and live projects to bridge theory and practice
  • Curriculum integration support to align technical education with industry standards

Master-Trainer Program & Nationwide Rollout

  • Selection and training of master trainers from faculty across institutions
  • These trainers will cascade the training to students through certified modules
  • Recognition and certification for participants to enhance employability

National and Global Alignment

The lab is aligned with several key initiatives,

  • National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 — promoting interdisciplinary, tech-enabled learning
