India Achieves Record ₹1.27 Lakh Cr in Domestic Defence Production

The Aero India 2025 show is expected to bring together the best in the defense industry, and with the increasing participation this year, the event promises to be grander than ever. Compared to the 2023 edition, there is a noticeable increase in the number of participants, with over 900 exhibitors from 90 countries showcasing their latest innovations in defense technology. In addition, more than 70 CEOs of prominent defense manufacturers will be in attendance, underscoring the importance of this event as a global defense networking hub.
One of the major highlights of this year’s Aero India will be the Defence Ministers’ Conclave, which will bring together the Defence Ministers from 26 countries. The theme for this conclave is BRIDGE (Building Resilience through International Defence and Global Engagement). This theme emphasizes the need for international cooperation in building resilient defense capabilities, particularly in an era of growing security challenges. Global engagement will be key in fostering deeper ties between nations and ensuring collective security through collaborative defense efforts.
This edition of Aero India 2025 is expected to be much larger than previous editions. Over 70 aircraft will be on display, with 30 aircraft participating in the static display and the rest in flying displays. Among the notable aircraft present will be the Russian Su-57 and the American F-35, two of the most advanced fighter jets in the world. The inclusion of these aircraft highlights the growing international recognition of India’s defense capabilities and its strategic partnerships with global defense powers.
Furthermore, the LCA Mark I (Light Combat Aircraft) will also be featured prominently during the event. According to Sanjeev Kumar, the Secretary of Defence Production, the LCA Mark I production line in HAL (Hindustan Aeronautics Limited) has been streamlined, and deliveries to the Indian Air Force (IAF) will begin soon. Additionally, GE Company will be supplying engines for the LCA, marking a significant step in the domestic production of military aircraft engines in India.
Another major highlight of the event was the flying demonstration of LCA Tejas aircraft by top Indian military officials. Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi and Air Chief Marshal AP Singh both took flights in the LCA Tejas today, showcasing the capabilities and performance of the indigenously developed aircraft. This demonstration is a testament to the growing self-reliance of India’s defense manufacturing sector and the country’s ability to develop and deploy cutting-edge military technology.
