Incentives for Foreign Companies in India’s AVGC Sector

Secretary Apurva Chandra highlighted India’s commitment to nurturing the AVGC sector by providing attractive incentives to foreign companies interested in producing AVGC content in India. He emphasized that these incentives are equivalent to those provided for shooting films in the country, presenting a lucrative opportunity for companies to leverage the benefits. This commitment to incentives also extends to supporting pre and post-production activities, further solidifying India’s dedication to fostering a thriving AVGC industry.

Strengthening Collaboration between India and France

During the festival, Secretary Chandra held discussions with Michael Marin, Director of AIAF, to explore avenues for enhancing India’s engagement with Annecy. They deliberated on the potential for collaboration between India and France to host an animation film festival in India, which could further promote artistic and cultural exchange between the two nations. Such collaborations would undoubtedly contribute to the growth and development of India’s AVGC sector.

India Pavilion: Showcasing Indian Creativity

As a testament to India’s vibrant animation industry, Secretary Chandra inaugurated the India Pavilion at AIAF. Designed around the theme of the Saraswati Yantra, the pavilion provided a platform for Indian artists, studios, and production houses to showcase their creative work and engage with the global animation community. The Indian delegation also had the opportunity to interact with Indian creatives who secured entries in the highly esteemed Annecy festival competition for 2023.

Prosperous Future for India’s AVGC Industry

With the animation and VFX market in India estimated to be valued at 109 billion rupees in 2021, and the VFX segment alone accounting for 50 billion rupees, the industry’s future looks exceptionally promising. Industry projections anticipate that these figures will surge to 180 billion rupees by 2024, underscoring the tremendous growth potential and business opportunities for India’s AVGC sector. India’s participation at Annecy plays a pivotal role in showcasing the country’s abilities to international buyers, solidifying its position as a major player in the global AVGC landscape.
