Indian Navy to Host Operation Southern Readiness 26-2 in Kochi
The Operation Southern Readiness 26-2 ‘joint naval exercise’ will take place from July 20 to 23, 2026. Organized by the Indian Navy together with the Combined Maritime Forces (CMF); the exercise is being conducted under the supervision of the Indian Navy led Combined Task Force 154. This initiative is bringing together the CMF partner nations. The purpose of the exercise is to ensure the security of the maritime industry. Furthermore, the exercise will facilitate the advancement of the navies mingling with each other.
Operation Southern Readiness 26-2 is a maritime training and cooperation aimed at improving relations among partnering navies and ensuring secure waters.
It is a four-day training program conducted by the Indian Navy in collaboration with the Combined Maritime Forces (CMF), one of the largest maritime coalitions in the world.
This operation has three main goals,
1. Promoting international cooperation.
2. Facilitating learning process in regional navies.
3. Developing maritime skills.
Operation Southern Readiness 26-2 reflects India’s important role in the international security process.
The operation will be conducted under the auspices of Combined Task Force 154 (CTF 154), which is the training task force of the Combined Maritime Forces, presently commanded by the Indian Navy.
As the lead nation in CTF 154, India is responsible for taking the lead in maritime training and enhancing the cooperation of CMF nations.
The Indian Navy plays an active role in any international maritime cooperation endeavor that strengthens regional security and protects international shipping routes.
The Combined Maritime Forces (CMF) is a naval coalition of over 40 nations.
