About BS-VI Fuel:
BS (Bharat Satge)-VI grade fuel is the world’s cleanest fuel containing just 10 parts per million of sulphur. BS-VI has a sulphur content of just 10 ppm and its emission standards are as good as Compressed Natural Gas (CNG). This has been mandated in India from 01st April 2020 in an attempt to check vehicular emissions which is one of the key reason for the choking pollution in major cities.
Earlier, in 2010, India introduced Euro-III equivalent (or Bharat Stage-III) fuel having a sulphur content of 350 ppm. India took 7-years in making a shift to BS-IV having a sulphur content of 50 ppm. Finally, India is shifting from BS-IV to BS-VI after a gap just three years.
