IWF chief Tamas Ajan resigns during corruption investigation

International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) President Tamas Ajan resigned within the wake of allegations of corruption and doping violations. American Ursula Papandrea will lead the federation as Acting President.

Tamas Ajan was the Secretary-General of the International Weightlifting Federation from 1976 to 2000 and had been the President of IWF from 2000 to 2020. The Executive Board of IWF has accepted the resignation of Tamas Ajan as IWF President after 43 years of service to weightlifting.
