Jal Shakti Ministry Announces Winners of ‘Water Heroes: Share Your Stories Contest’

The Department of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation, Ministry of Jal Shakti launched the ‘Water Heroes: Share Your Stories’ contest. The third edition of the ‘Water Heroes: Share Your Stories’ contest was launched on 1st December 2021 and it will end on 30th November 2022 on MyGov Portal.

The first edition was launched from 1st September 2019 to 30th August 2020 and the second edition of the ‘Water Heroes: Share Your Stories’ contest was launched from 19th September 2020 to 31st August 2021. For August, the six winners of the ‘Water Heroes: Share Your Stories’ contest will get a ₹10,000 cash prize and a certificate.

‘Water Heroes: Share Your Stories’ contest: Objectives

  • To promote the value of water, in general, and for supporting country-wide efforts on water conservation and sustainable development of water resources.
  • To motivate the people of the country to adopt the cause of water conservation.
  • To create awareness for water conservation by enhancing knowledge and sharing experiences of water heroes.
  • To create an attitude towards water conservation and management, for behavioral change in stakeholders.

Key Points related to the ‘Water Heroes: Share Your Stories’ contest

  • The ‘Water Heroes: Share Your Stories’ contest is held every month and details can be accessed through MyGov Portal.
  • People who want to participate in the contest, can visit the MyGov Portal.
  • The participants need to post their success stories on the water conservation effect in the form of a 1–5-minute video, along with a write-up of 300 words, and attach some photographs.
  • The participants need to share their videos on the MyGov Portal.

‘Water Heroes: Share Your Stories’ contest: Winners

  1. Divyansh Tondon- He is associated with the ‘Paani Panchayat campaign. He is from Meerut. Under the ‘Paani Panchayat’ campaign, they go to various villages, streets, towns, schools, and localities, and make the public aware. He is also the vice President of the Saarthi Social Welfare Society.
  2. Vinay Vishwanath Gawas- He is a project Director from Goa, and he is campaigning about Rooftop Rainwater Harvesting and borewell recharge in Kelawade village, Keri Sattari, Goa. The Rooftop Rainwater Harvesting Project is built in collaboration with TERI.
  3. Amit- He is a Gram Pradhan in Malakpura, Jalon, UP. He was previously a journalist in Delhi. He has done various activities for development such as providing healthy foods in the primary school of the village, working in plantation works, environment protection, and water purification through sedimentation activities.
  4. Babita Rajpoot Ghuwara- She is from Chattarpur, Madhya Pradesh. She is involved in the construction of four check dams and two outlets and made bori Bandhan.
  5. Arurag Patel- Anurag Patel, is District Magistrate, Banda. He is working and giving a considerable effort to conserve water in two significant campaigns ‘Jal Sanchay, Jeevan Sanchay’ and ‘Jal Kumbhi Hatao-Talab Bachao Abhiyan’. He took initiative to remove water hyacinth from 126 ponds. He also took efforts to rejuvenate the Chandrawal River by digging up extra miles for removing purposes.
  6. Snehlata Sharma- She is from Shivpuri District Block Badarwas, Piparodha Village has been doing a considerable and praiseworthy job in the field of water conservation and management for the past 1 year.
