Kati Bihu is also known as Kongali Bihu which marks the crucial phase in farmers’ lives in Assam. It marks the fresh start of the harvest season and the relocation of the rice saplings.

The Kati Bihu is celebrated by lighting lamps and candles in the different parts of the house and the main lamp is lit near the Tulsi plant. The Tulsi plant is cleaned and kept on an earthen platform known as Tulsi Bheti. During the Kati, Bihu people make offerings and pray to goddess Tulsi for the well-being of their family and friends to have a good harvest.
