The Kati Bihu is an auspicious festival of Assam which is a harvest festival. It is celebrated on 18th October 2022 and the day is marked on the first day of Kati month according to the Assamese Calendar. The Kati Bihu generally falls in October every day.
Kati Bihu is also known as Kongali Bihu which marks the crucial phase in farmers’ lives in Assam. It marks the fresh start of the harvest season and the relocation of the rice saplings.

Kati means cutting and it signifies the time of the year when the granaries are usually empty and there is not much to eat at this time of the year.
Kati Bihu 2022 is celebrated this year on 18th October. It is the first day of the Kati month according to the Assamese Calendar. The Kati Bihu is celebrated by lighting lamps and candles in the different parts of the house and the main lamp is lit near the Tulsi plant. The Tulsi plant is cleaned and kept on an earthen platform known as Tulsi Bheti. During the Kati, Bihu people make offerings and pray to goddess Tulsi for the well-being of their family and friends to have a good harvest.
