Maharashtra Proposes 40 Ropeway Projects, Inks MoU With NHAI For Execution
The collaboration between the Maharashtra government and the National Highways Logistic Management Limited (NHLML) marks a significant step towards advancing connectivity and tourism development through ropeways under the National Ropeway Programme ‘Parvatmala’.
The Maharashtra government and NHLML formalized their partnership by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), emphasizing the joint commitment towards infrastructure development and the implementation of ropeway projects.
NHLML, a key player in infrastructure development, is tasked with implementing ropeway projects outlined in the Parvatmala programme, ensuring efficient execution and connectivity enhancement across Maharashtra.
The Maharashtra government has proposed 40 ropeway projects for consideration, targeting prominent tourist destinations and enhancing connectivity across regions such as Mumbai, Satara, Raigad, Nashik, Nanded, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, and Pune.
NHLML has already initiated work on four ropeway projects in Maharashtra, with significant investments exceeding Rs 1,000 crore. Additionally, efforts are underway to develop Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for prioritized projects, while inviting bids for new projects to bolster connectivity and tourism, such as the Brahmagiri-Anjaneri Hills ropeway in Nashik.
The MoU between NHLML and state governments is crucial for effective implementation, development, and maintenance of ropeway projects, facilitating seamless connectivity and fostering tourism growth. Notably, several states have already partnered with NHLML, highlighting the nationwide impact of this collaborative effort.
The partnership between NHLML and the Maharashtra government signifies a strategic endeavor towards enhancing transportation infrastructure and fostering tourism development. Through the implementation of ropeway projects under the Parvatmala scheme, Maharashtra aims to promote connectivity, economic growth, and cultural exchange, thereby redefining the landscape of transportation and tourism in the region.
