MoD Signs ₹449 Crore Contract for Indigenous GNSS Jammers for Indian Navy

Ministry of Defence (MoD) has signed the ₹449 crore deal with the Accord Software and Systems Private Limited (ASSPL), Bengaluru for the procurement of 20 Enhanced Capability Global Navigation Satellite System (ECGNSS) Jammers for the Indian Navy. This deal is signed under the on Satellite System (ECGNSS) Jammers for the Indian Navy. Signed under the Buy (Indian-IDDM) category with the minimum 75% indigenous content requirement and this deal will strengthens the India’s maritime security.

What Is the ₹449 Crore ECGNSS Jammer Deal?

The contract was signed on 10th of June, 2026 in the presence of the Defense Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh. Under the new agreement, ASSPL will supply total 20 Enhanced Capability Global Navigation Satellite System Jammers to the Indian Navy.

This procurement falls under the Buy (Indian-Indigenously Designed, Developed and Manufactured) category which gives the highest priority to the indigenous defense products.

The project also mandates at least 75% indigenous content and making it a significant achievement for the India’s defense manufacturing ecosystem.

How Will ECGNSS Jammers Strengthen the Indian Navy?

The ECGNSS Jammers are the advanced electronic warfare systems which are designed to disrupt enemy satellite navigation systems.

Their capabilities includes the,

  • Degrading a satellite signal acquisition.
  • Interfering with the signal tracking.
  • Signal spoofing and deceptive jamming.
  • Countering adversary navigation systems.
  • Enhancing operational safety of naval platforms.

In the modern military operations heavily depend on the satellite navigation systems such as GPS, GLONASS, Galileo and BeiDou.

Disrupting an adversary’s access to these systems can affect the navigation, targeting accuracy, surveillance and communication.

As a result of this GNSS jammers have become the critical component of electronic warfare strategies that are adopted by the leading military powers worldwide.
