Modi Unleashes ₹1.22 Lakh Crore Development Blitz in Rajasthan

On 25 September 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched one of the largest development packages in Rajasthan’s history, worth over ₹1.22 lakh crore. The announcement, made from Banswara during Navratri, focused on clean energy, tribal upliftment, connectivity, and welfare schemes, aiming to transform the socio-economic landscape of South Rajasthan and beyond.

Energy Revolution from the Land of Shakti

India’s Power Sector Gets a Giant Push

A staggering ₹90,000 crore was allocated to energy projects across five states, including Rajasthan. Highlights include,

  • Mahi Banswara Atomic Power Project (₹42,000 crore): India’s latest nuclear mega-project featuring four indigenous 700 MW reactors built in fleet mode.
  • Solar Power Projects: Inaugurated across Jaisalmer, Jalore, Sikar, and Phalodi; foundation laid for more in Bikaner and Andhra Pradesh.
  • Transmission Infrastructure: ₹13,180 crore worth of projects to connect renewable energy zones to demand centers across India.
  • India is transitioning from energy deficiency to clean energy leadership, and Rajasthan is at the heart of this shift.

Farmers & Villages Empowered with Solar Schemes

To ensure sustainable and cheap electricity in agriculture, the PM launched,

  • PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana: Free rooftop solar for homes.
  • PM-KUSUM Scheme (Component C): ₹16,050 crore to solarize 3,517 MW of agricultural feeders across four states.
  • These initiatives aim to cut irrigation costs, reduce diesel dependency, and boost rural energy self-reliance.

Water for Every Home and Field

A crucial part of the mega-package is focused on water security, with over ₹20,830 crore allocated to,

  • Dam construction and rejuvenation (e.g., Isarda, Mor Sagar).
  • Canal and pump house development.
  • Major lift and feeder canal systems.
  • Another ₹5,880 crore will fund clean drinking water supply in districts like Banswara, Dungarpur, Udaipur, and Ajmer under AMRUT 2.0.

Roads, Rail & Regional Connectivity Get a Boost

To unlock economic potential in underdeveloped regions,

  • Flyovers, highways, and bridges worth ₹2,630 crore were launched.
  • Three new trains, including two Vande Bharat Express services, were flagged off to improve interstate travel and trade.
  • These efforts aim to connect rural interiors with urban hubs more efficiently.

Jobs, Youth & Welfare at the Core

Over 15,000 job appointment letters were distributed to young recruits in government services—spanning roles from teachers to engineers. PM Modi also highlighted schemes targeting the poorest and most deprived, such as,

  • PM Janman Yojana for tribal communities.
  • Eklavya Residential Schools and Van Dhan Yojana for education and livelihood.
  • Recognition of forest rights and expansion of Minimum Support Price (MSP) for forest produce.
