ATD BEST Awards: Recognizing Talent Development Excellence

The ATD BEST Awards, instituted by the Association of Talent Development (ATD), USA, in 2003, recognize organizations that leverage talent development as a strategic business tool and demonstrate enterprise-wide success through effective employee development practices. These awards celebrate both small and large organizations, across various sectors, that have excelled in this domain.

NTPC’s Journey: From Thermal to Renewable Energy

Established by the Government of India in 1975 as the National Thermal Power Corporation Private Limited, and later renamed NTPC Limited in 2005, the company has undergone a transformative journey. Initially focused on constructing and operating coal-based thermal power stations, NTPC has diversified its portfolio to include hydro, gas-based, solar, and wind-based power generation units.

Powering India’s Energy Needs

With an installed capacity of 76,015 MW, comprising 51 NTPC-owned power stations and 42 Joint Venture/Subsidiary stations, NTPC is the largest power sector company in India. The company operates India’s largest coal-based thermal power plant, the Vindhyanchal Thermal Power Plant in Singrauli, Madhya Pradesh, with an installed capacity of 4760 MW.

Embracing Sustainability and Innovation

NTPC has set ambitious goals to increase its non-fossil fuel-based generation capacity to 50% of its total power generation by 2032. This commitment to sustainability and innovation aligns with the company’s pursuit of excellence in talent development and employee empowerment.

Led by Chairman cum Managing Director Gurdeep Singh and headquartered in New Delhi, NTPC’s recognition at the ATD BEST Awards 2024 highlights its dedication to fostering a culture of continuous learning, adopting cutting-edge technologies, and setting industry benchmarks in the power sector.
