Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Poverty-Free Village Scheme
On July 4, 2025, the Rajasthan government started a new plan called the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Poverty-Free Village Scheme. In the first step, this scheme will help 5,000 villages by giving money to poor families. The goal is to reduce poverty and help people earn better through small businesses and jobs.
The new scheme focuses on families living below the poverty line (BPL). It will give up to Rs 1 lakh to each selected family to start work or a small business. Women in self-help groups (SHGs) can also get Rs 15,000 per family to grow their income. This plan is made to help people stand on their own feet.
Families who already worked hard and moved above the poverty line will get a reward of Rs 21,000. This money will be sent directly to their verified bank accounts. As of now, 17,891 bank accounts out of 22,400 eligible families have been checked and approved. These families will also receive ‘Atmanirbhar Parivar Cards’, showing they have become self-reliant.
The government has found 30,631 BPL families across 5,002 villages by using old BPL records from 2002 and doing new surveys. Also, more than 61,000 new applications have come from families still living in poverty. The administration is now making a special action plan for each village. These plans will link people to existing government schemes for skill training, job support, and financial help.
