President Murmu Reached Ladakh For Her Maiden Two-Day Visit
President Droupadi Murmu embarked on her first official visit to Ladakh, a region renowned for its breathtaking landscapes and resilient inhabitants. During her two-day stay, she participated in a series of events that celebrated the spirit of Ladakh and highlighted the unwavering commitment of its troops.
President Droupadi Murmu’s visit began with a warm reception at the Leh airport. The Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, B. D. Mishra, along with the Chief Executive Councilors (CEC) of Leh and Kargil, Dr Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, extended a gracious welcome, setting the tone for a visit filled with camaraderie and goodwill.

President Droupadi Murmu, upon her arrival in Leh for her first two-day visit to Ladakh, participated in the 5th Union Territory Foundation Day ceremony held at Sindu Sanskriti Kendra. During this event, she underscored the historical significance of the day, as in 2019, Ladakh was designated as a Union Territory. She expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to visit Ladakh and partake in the festivities marking this momentous day.
The highlight of President Murmu’s visit was her expedition to the Siachen base camp, nestled in the rugged terrain of the Nubra Valley. This journey allowed her to witness the daily challenges faced by the courageous troops stationed in one of the world’s most treacherous battlefields. Interacting with these dedicated soldiers not only boosted their morale but also demonstrated the President’s unwavering support for the armed forces.
In addition to her engagements with the armed forces and civil society, President Murmu took the opportunity to interact with members of self-help groups and local tribals. This dialogue emphasized her commitment to empowering the grassroots of Ladakh, encouraging self-sufficiency, and fostering community development.
The visit’s final leg featured a visit to a handicrafts exhibition, where the President celebrated Ladakh’s rich cultural heritage. Exploring the exquisite craftsmanship, traditional art, and unique culture of the region, President Murmu conveyed her appreciation for the diverse talents and skills of Ladakh’s people.
