Rakesh Mohan Appointed to World Bank Economic Advisory Panel
The World Bank Group has appointed former Reserve Bank of India (RBI) deputy governor Rakesh Mohan as a member of its Economic Advisory Panel. This panel will be chaired by Lord Nicholas Stern, the IG Patel Professor of Economics and Government at the London School of Economics. World Bank Group Chief Economist Indermit Gill will co-chair the panel.
Rakesh Mohan is currently serving as the president emeritus and distinguished fellow at the Centre for Social and Economic Progress (CSEP), a New Delhi-based think tank. He is also a part-time member of the Prime Minister’s Economic Advisory Council.

He has also served as a senior fellow at the Jackson Institute for Global Affairs at Yale University and was a professor in the practice of international economics and finance at the School of Management from 2010 to 2012.
According to the CSEP statement, the World Bank’s Economic Advisory Panel will focus on strategic issues for the World Bank Group in relation to their objectives, research agenda, and actions. The panel will provide guidance and insights to help the World Bank Group achieve its goals.
