Ramesh Bais Appointed as the New Governor of Maharashtra, Takes Over Koshyari

Ramesh Bais was appointed as the new Governor of Maharashtra after the resignation of Bhagat Singh Koshyari. Bhagat Singh Koshyari stepped down after a sour relationship with Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government led by Uddhav Thackeray. Ramesh Bais has earlier served as the Governor of Jharkhand. President Droupadi Murmu accepted the resignation of Bhagat Singh Koshyari.

About Bhagat Singh Koshyari

Bhagat Singh Koshyari is an Indian politician who served as the 22nd governor of Maharashtra from 2019 to 2023. An RSS veteran, Koshyari served as National Vice-President of BJP and the party’s 1st State president for Uttarakhand. He also served as the 2nd Chief Minister of Uttarakhand from 2001 to 2002.

He also served as an MLC in the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council and MLA in Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly. He later served as an MP in Rajya Sabha from 2008 to 2014 from Uttarakhand and then the MP in the 16th Lok Sabha from the Nainital-Udhamsingh Nagar constituency, earning him the distinction of being elected in both houses of the State Legislature and both houses of the National Parliament respectively.

Ramesh Bais is an Indian Politician who is currently serving as the 23rd Governor of Maharashtra. Bais earlier served as the Governor of Jharkhand from 2021 to 2023 and the Governor of Tripura from 2019 to 2021. He is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party and has served in various political capacities throughout his career, including as a Union Minister of State for Environment and Forests in the government of Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

Bais has been elected seven times to the Lok Sabha, the lower house of the Indian Parliament, representing the Raipur constituency, including serving as a member of the 9th Lok Sabha (1989) and 11th to 16th Lok Sabha (1996-2019).
