As the largest uranium producer globally, Kazakhstan’s mine production reached 21,227 metric tons in 2022, accounting for an impressive 43% of the world’s uranium supply. The country boasts vast recoverable uranium resources, totaling 815,200 metric tons as of 2021, second only to Australia. Utilizing predominantly in-situ leaching methods, Kazakhstan’s national uranium miner, Kazataprom, leads the industry with projects and partnerships spanning various regions. Recent news of potential production target misses for 2024 and 2025 from Kazataprom has significantly impacted uranium prices, surpassing the US$100 mark in 2024.
