Union Minister Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, Hon’ble Minister for Communications and Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), has officially launched the website for the Ashtalakshmi Mahotsav. The launch, held at Sanchar Bhawan in New Delhi, highlights the government’s dedication to showcasing Northeast India’s cultural and economic richness on both national and international platforms.
The Ashtalakshmi Mahotsav is set to take place from December 6th to 8th, 2024, at Bharat Mandapam, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. The festival celebrates the eight Northeastern states—Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, and Tripura—collectively known as the “Ashtalakshmi,” symbolizing eight forms of prosperity. The official website, www.ashtalakshmimahotsav.com, will provide updates, event schedules, and participation details.
Shri Scindia emphasized the festival’s role in bridging cultural and economic gaps between Northeast India and the rest of the country. He noted that the Ashtalakshmi Mahotsav will showcase the region’s rich culture and stimulate economic development by creating opportunities for artisans, weavers, and entrepreneurs.
Fashion and Design Conclave: Includes a Fashion Show featuring traditional Northeastern clothing and a Design Conclave highlighting regional textiles.
Artisanal Crafts and GI Products: Features live demonstrations of Muga and Eri Silk weaving and showcases Geographical Indication (GI) products.
Business and Investment Opportunities: Includes a Buyer-Seller Meet and an Investment Round Table to facilitate business collaborations and investments.
The Ashtalakshmi Mahotsav aims to deliver long-term economic benefits by providing a platform for regional artisans and entrepreneurs to engage with new business opportunities and investments.
Minister Scindia shared his excitement about the event on X (formerly Twitter), urging people to visit the website and be part of Northeast India’s growth story.
