Su-30MKI pilot Squadron Leader Chaturvedi will be assigned to the Veer Guardian 2023 in Japan. First female fighter pilot in the Indian Air Force (IAF), squadron commander Avani Chaturvedi, will participate in the inaugural air exercise Veer Guardian 2023. The goal of the exercise is to improve air defence cooperation between Japan and India.

  • India’s first female pilot, Avani Chaturvedi, to pilot an Indian Sukhoi fighter jet in aerial wargames in Japan.
  • For the first time, female officers would be travelling abroad to represent the nation.
  • Two of the female fighter pilots participated in the French Air Force’s wargames with the female officers as part of foreign contingents visiting India.

Veer Guardian 2023 will be held in Japan from January 16 to January 26 at Sayama Iruma Air Base, Omitama Hyakuri Air Base, and adjoining airspace. Squadron Leader Bhawana Kanth, a classmate of Avani Chaturvedi’s and one of the first three female fighter pilots, claims that the Su-30MKIs used by the Indian Air Force are among the greatest and deadliest platforms outfitted with indigenous weaponry.
