Google to launch its AI Chatbot amid ChatGPT’s Growing Popularity

Google AI Chatbot

Google AI Chatbot: Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google declared code red at Google in December to plan the development of Google’s AI chatbot. According to the New York Times, Google has enlisted the assistance of two of its most well-known engineers, Larry Page and Sergey Brin, who no longer participate in day-to-day operations at the company. This meeting was scheduled to discuss ways to counter the growing popularity of OpenAI’s ChatGPT (Chat Generative Pre-trained Transformer) and create a Google AI chatbot that is similarly competitive. This is a clear indication that Google is under intense pressure to step up its chatbot efforts lest it fall behind ChatGPT and the $149 billion search engine market.

Google AI Chatbot: Key Points

  • Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google, proclaimed “code red” in December. The schedule for Google’s AI chatbot demo isn’t yet set, people with ideas of transactions claim that the company plans to show off a better and ethical AI chatbot at its I/O conference in May, along with 20 other AI technologies.
  • According to a poll conducted by the financial portal Finbold, global searches for the term “ChatGPT” on Google have increased and now rank 92% popular worldwide.
  • There is ample cause for concern for Google now that Microsoft, an OpenAI investor, plans to incorporate part of ChatGPT’s technology into its Bing search engine and Azure OpenAI service.

What all was discussed regarding Google AI projects?

  • An image generation tool to create and edit images, an improvised version of AI Test Kitchen, which is essentially an app for testing product prototypes, a Tik Tok-style green screen mode for YouTube.
  • And a tool to create videos that summarize other videos are among the other AI projects that the panel of executives presented.
  • Google also intends to introduce tools for Android app developers called Colab+ and Shopping Try-on, as well as a wallpaper maker for Pixel phones.

Google AI Chatbot Vs ChatGPT:

  • Competition for ChatGPT’s coding prowess and Microsoft’s Copilot software will come from Google’s AI code generator PaLM-Coder2.
  • Being a traditional player and unwilling to take “reputational risk,” Google develops AI technologies at a comparatively modest pace.
  • Google has already faced criticism for sacking its scientists Margaret Mitchell and Timmit Gebru for unethical reasons.
  • When Gebru and Mitchell discussed Google’s LLM model, PaLM, they were charged for violating the company’s code of confidentiality.
  • Google trained its language models using biassed data.
  • Two more ethical researchers joined Gebru and Mitchell in their departure from Google.
  • Google appears to be speeding its product development and approval process, which is designed to make sure that operational practices are in compliance with established ethical standards, now that ChatGPT is threatening to kick it out of the building.
  • The Google AI search demo would provide accurate information, eliminate false information, and guarantee safety.
  • The checks are intended to address the problem of AI confidently and correctly replying to inquiries containing incorrect information.

Google wants to make sure that the rushing doesn’t prevent them from creating an AI chatbot that is impervious to moral lapses.
