ISRO Conducts Ground Test of SOLVE Vehicle, Boosting India's Gaganyaan Human Spaceflight Mission
The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has made a significant advancement in the Gaganyaan human spaceflight programme with the successful completion of the first ground test of the solid motor for his Sub-Orbital Launch Vehicle for Experiments (SOLVE). The test was carried out on July 3, 2026, and it enabled ISRO to validate the performance of the new propulsion system for executing parachute and crew module recovery tests in different complex mission scenarios. This milestone will further strengthen India’s preparations for its first indigenous human space mission.
Indian space agency ISRO achieved its first achievement in regard to this SOLVE solid motor on July 3, 2026 at 10:00 AM.
The ground test was held at Sriharikota, in the Static Test Facility of Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC).
According to Indian Space Research Organisation, all the parameters of the motor reached the expected levels as well as the propulsion system has shown its success in performing well in regard to the tests.
SOLVE (Sub-Orbital Launch Vehicle for Experiments) is a solid-fueled sub-orbital rocket that is currently in development by ISRO (Indian Space Research Organization).
Its main objective of SOLVE is testing the Gaganyaan Mission’s deceleration and recovery systems.
SOLVE is different from standard launch vehicles as it is meant for conducting experimental missions.
