Rajat Manohar Patidar is an Indian international cricketer who plays as a right-handed top-order batter and off-spinner. He represents Madhya Pradesh in domestic cricket and leads Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Patidar made his international debut on 21 December 2023 against South Africa. His journey from domestic cricket to international success is an inspiring story.
Rajat Patidar was born on 1 June 1993 in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. His father is a businessman. He developed an interest in cricket club. Later, his granfather enrolled him in an academy where he started as a bowler. However, after playing at the U-15 level, he focused more on batting.
For his education, Patidar attended New Digamber Public School in Indore. He later graduated from Guru Vashishtha College in Dewas, Madhya Pradesh.
After an impressive IPL season, Patidar was selected in India’s One-Day International (ODI) squad for the series against South Africa in October 2022. He was later named as a replacement for Shreyas Iyer in the ODI squad against New Zealand in February 2023 but did not get a chance.
In January 2024, he was chosen as a replacement for Virat Kohli in India’s Test squad for the series against England. He played his first Test match on 2 February 2024, scoring 32 and 9 runs in the two innings.
