Early Life and Education
Anil Nagar was born and raised in a small village in Uttar Pradesh, India. Growing up in rural India, he experienced firsthand the challenges of limited educational access. Despite these constraints, he excelled academically and secured admission to the Indian Institute of Technology (BHU), Varanasi, where he earned a B.Tech degree.
His background as a first-generation learner strongly influenced his vision of making quality education accessible to underserved students across Tier-2 and Tier-3 regions of India.
Career
After graduating from the Indian Institute of Technology (BHU), Varanasi, Anil worked at multinational corporations between 2008 and 2010.In 2010, he left the corporate sector to pursue teaching, establishing offline coaching centres that prepared students for Staff Selection Commission (SSC) and banking examinations.
In 2016, Anil co-founded Adda247, an online learning platform aimed at expanding access to government exam preparation. The platform adopted a digital-first model, incorporating mobile learning and vernacular content to reach students in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities.
Between 2023 and 2024, he oversaw the launch of Career247, a platform focused on career discovery and private-sector upskilling. In 2025, he consolidated the group’s education initiatives under the umbrella brand Adda Education. The company grew to include multiple platforms, such as StudyIQ, PrepInsta, Career Power, and Ekagrata CA, in addition to Adda247.
