Dr Raghu Ram Pillarisetti, a renowned surgeon, has been awarded the lifetime achievement award by the Telugu Association of London. He is the founding director of the AKIMS-Ushalakshmi Centre for Breast Diseases located in Hyderabad. Despite his relatively young age, Dr Raghuram has become one of the few people to receive the award. He is also the only Indian living outside the UK to be bestowed with this honor.

During the celebration of Ugadi 2023, organized by the Telugu Association of London (TAL), Dr Raghu Ram Pillarisetti was awarded the lifetime achievement award. TAL is the biggest Telugu Charity Organisation in the UK and represents the Telugu speaking community of around 10,000 people in and around London.
Dr Ramulu Dasoju, the founder chairman of TAL, and the current chairperson Bharathi Kandukuri, read out parts of the citation during the event. The Mayor of London Borough of Hounslow, Councillor Raghwinder Siddhu, also praised Dr Raghu Ram as an exemplary individual who bridges the gap between the UK and India, with a focus on best practices in his field and an emphasis on human values. He added that Dr Raghu Ram is a role model who possesses many altruistic qualities.

Dr Raghu Ram Pillarisetti, who is a recipient of the Padma Shri and Dr B.C. Roy national award, has brought about a major transformation in the treatment of breast cancer in India by implementing various innovative measures over the course of 17 years. He founded the first comprehensive Breast Health Centre in South Asia and established a charitable foundation to raise awareness of breast cancer across the country. Dr Raghu Ram also initiated the largest population-based screening programme in South Asia, which was implemented in the states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh and is now being extended throughout the country.
