- The Union Cabinet has announced a nationwide celebration of the 150th anniversary of the national song “Vande Mataram,” composed by Bankim Chandra Chatterjee in Sanskrit and featured in his 1882 novel Anandamath.
- Its first public recital by Rabindranath Tagore in 1896 gave it national prominence.
- The song holds equal status with the national anthem “Jana Gana Mana” as per a 1950 Presidential order and was a powerful rallying cry during India’s independence movement.

India’s First Cooperative‑Run CBG & Potash Project Launched at Kopargaon

- Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah inaugurated India’s first cooperative-run Compressed Bio-Gas (CBG) and Potash Granule Project at the Shankarrao Kolhe Cooperative Sugar Factory in Kopargaon, Maharashtra, showcasing a model circular economy.
- The project will be replicated in 15 cooperative sugar factories, with Maharashtra leading.
CM Nitish Kumar Launches Patna Metro’s First Phase

- Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today inaugurated the first phase of the Patna Metro Rail Service, marking the launch of the Priority Corridor, a 3.6-km elevated stretch from ISBT to Bhootnath Station.
- The metro, initiated in 2019 by PM Narendra Modi, will start passenger services tomorrow.
- With three-coach trains carrying up to 900 passengers, and Bihar State Auxiliary Police (B-SAP) handling security, this milestone ends a six-year wait for metro connectivity in Patna.

- World Cotton Day, observed annually on 7 October, celebrates cotton’s vital role as a global commodity grown in over 75 countries across five continents.
- Officially recognized by the UN General Assembly in 2021, the day highlights cotton’s importance in creating jobs, supporting economic stability, and promoting sustainable trade—especially in least-developed countries (LDCs) like Benin, Burkina Faso, Chad, Côte d’Ivoire, and Mali.
